After treatment 

After your keratin wax hair extensions have been placed, it is important to take good care of them to extend their lifespan and maintain their fabulous appearance. Here are some guidelines to follow.

1. Hair care

After the treatment, only use mild, natural products for your hair care. Wash your hair only with silicone- and sulfate-free shampoo and avoid using oily products. We sell the N\O Creative Haircare line in our salons (and on the webshop). When you purchase the N\O Creative shampoos from our salons or webshop, we offer a 100% guarantee on your hair extensions.  

Note: Wait at least 2 days before washing after the treatment. As the wax still needs some time to harden fully. If you wash immediately after the treatment, there is a good chance that you will lose tufts (quickly).  

2. Avoid Dyeing or Decolorizing

Extensions may NOT be dyed or decolorized. This may affect the integrity of the extensions and will void the warranty. We recommend having your hair color updated at least 1.5 weeks before your appointment. With 21 natural hair shades in our Hair Extensions by Char collection, we can achieve a perfect match for almost any hair color!

3. Oil use

Only use hair oil in the ends of your own hair and the extensions. Avoid contact with the wax bonds. Oil can cause the bonds to slip, leading to loss of extensions. Our favorite from N\O Creative Haircare is the Therapy Oil, for silky soft ends! The oil is for sale in our salons and in the webshop.  

4. Sunscreen and self-tanner

Sunscreens and self-tanners can permanently stain your hair extensions. Ingredients like avobenzone, oxybenzone, and octocrylene, commonly found in sunscreens, are the main culprits. Discoloration can occur upon direct contact, particularly affecting lighter shades of hair extensions. 
The substances avobenzone, oxybenzone and octocrylene, which are found in most sunscreen products, are the culprits!  

The solution? A natural sunscreen, brands such as: Naïf, Clarins and Clinique. Not only good for your extensions, also for your skin and the environment.  

If you do not want to purchase another sunscreen, make sure you wear your hair up and do not let it come into contact with the cream.  

5. Silver shampoo

Be careful when using silver shampoos. While it helps neutralize unwanted yellow tones, it can also cause discoloration of your extensions. Always test a small section of hair first or consult your stylist for advice. Extensions are not nourished from the scalp, so the hair absorbs colorings/products more intensely.   

6. General Maintenance

Brush your hair regularly with a special extension brush (available in our salons and in the webshop) to prevent tangles. Start at the ends and gently work your way up. Make sure to wear your hair in a loose braid or ponytail at night to reduce friction and prevent tangles. Preferably with a soft satin or velvet scunchie (you will receive 1 as a gift in our salons!).

7. Heat Protection

Always use a heat protectant product before using heat styling tools. Although the keratin bonds are resistant to heat, excessive heat can affect the quality of both your natural hair and the extensions. Never use a curling iron or straightener directly on the wax bonds, start styling under the bond. We recommend setting your heat tools to a maximum of 180 degrees.   

8. Interim check

Schedule the included free service appointment with your stylist to have the condition of your extensions assessed and any necessary adjustments made. This helps to keep your extensions in optimal condition. During the service appointment we check the ties, replace any loose strands and wash/blow-dry/cut and style as desired.   

Usually, if care is taken, about 10% of the tufts will slip during the wearing time. So don't be alarmed by this, but keep them until your service appointment!   

By following these guidelines, you ensure that your keratin wax hair extensions continue to look fabulous and that you enjoy them for a long time! 
Most customers schedule the service appointment approximately halfway through the extension's lifespan, around 1.5 months after application.  

9. Professional removal

Removing the keratin wax hair extensions must be done carefully. To prevent hair damage, we recommend that you always have the hair extensions removed by our professionals. Our stylists use a special dissolving liquid and removal tool for the removal.  

After removal, your hair is washed and blow-dried and you can choose a new set or we style your own hair as desired. 
So that in both cases, you leave the salon looking fabulous!
