Hair extensions at Char knows what to do.

Hair breakage (of your own hair) is a common problem that can be caused by a number of factors, including over-washing, heat damage, stress and dryness. Fortunately, there are a few things you can do to prevent hair breakage and keep your locks looking healthy and strong. Hair extensions by Char to the rescue.

Keep it clean!

If you have oily skin, it is also possible that your sebum (natural oil) production on your scalp is higher than average. This can lead to the temptation to wash your hair more often than necessary – but this is not recommended! On the other hand, if the hair becomes too dry after frequent washing, a weekly treatment with a gentle cleanser is recommended.

It is important not only to cleanse the scalp, but also to apply a conditioner afterwards and then rinse it out. When wearing hair extensions, it is not recommended that the conditioner come into contact with the wax bonds. In that case, massage the product onto your crown, paying particular attention to the ends. The disadvantage of oil-based products that are too rich is that they can weigh down the hair. We therefore advise against using such conditioners or shampoos and other care products that contain silicones and/or sulphates. Products containing these ingredients can be harmful to both your natural hair and hair extensions.

Hair Extensions by Char works exclusively with N\O Creative Haircare, this professional hair care brand is 100% vegan and contains only good ingredients for both your own hair and the hair extensions.

Another important tip: also avoid brushing the hair when it is wet, as this can cause the hair to stretch and break. Instead, wait until your hair is partially dry before brushing or combing it and if you wear hair extensions we recommend that you always blow dry it.

Beat the heat!

It is important to protect your hair before exposing it to heat. A good way is with a serum or heat protective spray, which can also help reduce the overall damage caused by overuse of these devices. If possible, opt for ceramic versions of hair dryers and straighteners/curling irons, as they generally heat more evenly than traditional metal ones.

One of the best ways to prevent hair breakage is to avoid over-styling. This means limiting the use of tools such as curling irons and hair straighteners and not wearing too tight hairstyles such as a ponytail or braids every day. If you do use tools, make sure you use a heat protectant spray beforehand to minimize damage as much as possible.

Breath in, breathe out…

Stress destroys more than you would like. Not only the type of stress you experience, but also how often these moments occur can affect your hair growth and hair loss. Too much stress can also lead to hair breakage. A healthy lifestyle contributes to the prevention of these types of discomforts. Make sure you get the right nutrients, that you exercise enough and, in addition to your body, don't forget your mind! Take a yoga class, start meditating, practice mindfulness and make sure you have enough me-time moments during the week.
